The purpose of laboratory auto-analysers interface:  

The purpose of laboratory auto-analysers interface is to convert the data transfer cycle between Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Medical Automated Analysers to fully automated process. Such system cannot be applied except for Laboratories that automate all its process or at least a part of it.

Paper documents dependent systems is lake of accuracy, but also half automation are less accurate than full automation, and the most laboratories lake of automated data transfer between several medical devices and computers.

Working using auto-analysers with out interface systems:

To successfully perform such process it requires certain steps:

  • Specimen Collection.
  • Specimen Labelling.
  • Identifying specimen to the analyser.
  • Identifying tests required.
  • Write the results from the analyser's output Device.
  • Write the results to the report or LIMS to complete storage and reporting.

At the first two steps there is no certain solution to eleminate human factor error, the third step could be performed easily using barcode system. But the last three steps remain human dependent, which is mean there is human factor error. Interface Systems is mainly the automation of those three steps

Unidirectional Interface:

The system of writing resuts data from auto-analysers to computers directly without human factor interaction.

Such system is very useful in dealing with batch analysers and single-test analysers

 
Bidirectional Interface:

The system of identifying specimens and required tests to auto-analysers and writing results directly to computers with out human factor interaction.

Such system is very useful in dealing with all types of auto-analysers (Batch - Random Access).
